Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced the signing of an agreement with Sony to continue offering the license call of duty on the consoles of the Japanese manufacturer. He indicated that both platforms had “signed a binding agreement to retain call of duty of PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard”. Microsoft President Brad Smith also shared the news via Twitter: “From day one of this acquisition, we are committed to addressing the concerns of regulators, platform and game developers, and consumers”.
The announcement could also improve the affairs of Microsoft, which remains in the crosshairs of competition authorities in the United States and the United Kingdom over the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, regulators fearing that the Redmond giant could lock access to Activision-Blizzard games. No details regarding the duration of the agreement have been disclosed, but it should run for at least ten years, according to the American press.
