On Wednesday April 3, the Minister of Agriculture Marc Fesneau presented the bill “for agricultural sovereignty and the renewal of generations in agriculture”. Text, which relates in particular to transmission. Because, as Marion Sauveur reminded us, one of the priorities is to replace at least a third of the farmers who will retire within 10 years. In 2019, 55% of farmers were over 50 years old.
Individualized support
This is why this bill aims to make young people want to get into agriculture. Or even by the creation of a new diploma (Bac +3) a Bachelor Agro to adapt to today’s agriculture.
For those looking to settle down, the bill provides for the establishment of individualized support through the establishment of a new service: “France Services Agriculture”. In particular, it must allow farmers who want to sell their farms to be put in touch with candidates for installation; accompany those who settle; set up “agricultural land investment groups”. They will be able to raise money from investors to buy land, which they can rent to new farmers.
