Air Liquide will build its largest biomethane production unit in the USA

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The industrial gases specialist Air Liquide announced Thursday that it has decided to build “its largest biomethane production unit in the world” in the United States, which will enable it to reach a production capacity 1.8 terawatt-hours (TWh) worldwide.

Air Liquide currently has 21 biomethane production units in operation around the world, for an annual production capacity of approximately 1.4 TWh.

The new production unit will be built in the State of Illinois. It “will allow Air Liquide to continue to offer low-carbon solutions to its customers in industry and transport to support them in reducing their emissions,” the group said in a press release.

The new production unit will produce biomethane from biogas from a solid waste treatment site.
