Airbus suspends several activities to comply with sanctions against Russia

(Update: details on the engineering center, context)

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The European aeronautical group Airbus announced on Wednesday that it had suspended several activities to comply with international sanctions against Russia.

In a statement released to media, the company said it had halted services provided by an engineering center in Russia “pending further review.” This center was established in 2003 and currently employs 200 Russian engineers, according to the Airbus website.

The former EADS also suspended assistance services to Russian airlines as well as the supply of spare parts in the country.

Boeing, the American rival of Airbus, has also stopped providing spare parts and maintenance and support services for Russian carriers. The aircraft manufacturer has also closed an office in Kiev and suspended the activity of a training center in Moscow.
