Airbus: tests a loading system on the Beluga

(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus Defense and Space has developed and tested a loading system for loading oversized military cargo on the Airbus Beluga A300-600ST aircraft.

This capability was successfully tested during a verification exercise with the German Armed Forces by loading a CH53 medium tonnage military helicopter into the Beluga.

‘The demand for oversized air cargo capacity is on the rise. Many customers are looking for new, fast and efficient solutions. This is what we offer with our BelugaST fleet’, said Michael Schoellhorn, Managing Director of Airbus Defense and Space.

The system makes it possible to organize the loading of a CH53 in a state of reduced dismantling in less than an hour and a half.

The total lifting capacity of the system, which requires no crane for its use, reaches 35 tons and can be moved to the destination of the aircraft.
