13 years after the first opus, Alan Wake II is adorned with two new videos before his story comes to haunt us tomorrow, October 27.

Remedy Entertainment has indeed not lost its way and will offer us this sequel that is much more horrific than the original title right for the Halloween weekend.

Alan Wake II This will end a totally crazy month of October in terms of video game releases, and we can bet that few will emerge from the experience unscathed. In any case, that’s what we feel with the last two videos shared by the Finnish studio just before the launch!

A beautiful nightmare throughout the pages

It is through the Xbox Partner Preview, a sort of State of Play, thatAlan Wake II stood out one last time before its release on October 27 on PC (on the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This Epic exclusivity on PC is due to the fact that it is to the company behind the Unreal Engine that we owe the financing of this sequel, which without it would probably never have been published.

And suffice to say that Remedy had fun with this second opus of a license that is deeply close to his heart. We will therefore follow in parallel Alan Wake, who desperately seeks to escape another story from his tortured mind, and Saga Anderson, a member of the FBI.

We will thus alternate between the horrific phases with the writer and the investigation phases mixed with the strange with the federal agent. All in an artistic direction that greatly flatters the retina, even if on PC you will need a rather robust typewriter. To advance the story, we will also be entitled to live-action passages that Remedy is so fond of.

Finally, Sam Lake’s studio indicated thatAlan Wake II will have a New Game Plus mode, which will include “ a new alternative history “. Enough to keep us in suspense until the end in order to fully understand a narrative that we expect to be particularly cryptic.

A new Saga that will become legendary?

In addition to the launch trailer, the Xbox Partner Preview left us with a gameplay phase with Saga. This is an opportunity to present the “action” part of the title in more detail, which certainly does not forget to give us chills.

It would seem that the classic flashlight/shot combo is not enough to defeat all the horrors that we will encounter. We will have to play it smart, and above all count our precious ammunition, the enemies proving particularly resistant.

Once again, Remedy Entertainment presents us with a title apart, with a deliciously oppressive atmosphere and a story that we expect to be thrilling. Verdict tomorrow from 6 a.m. (Paris time). Note thatAlan Wake II will require a little more than 80 GB of disk space, regardless of the platform, and that the features of the DualSense controller will also be supported on PC, for more immersion. A nightmare which is part of a heavy sleep, in short, but which we can’t wait to (sur)live.
