Alcohol ban imposed on Lake Starnberg – visitors need to know that now

Noise, garbage, nuisance – that's enough for the Starnbergers. The picturesque Starnberger See attracts huge numbers of visitors almost every day. In the Corona summer, however, administrative offenses and legal violations increased, which the city attributes to increasing alcohol consumption.

Alcohol ban at Lake Starnberg applies from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

With a nightly alcohol ban, they want to put a stop to this. The holiday committee of the city council in Starnberg decided on Monday, according to "Merkur". Specifically, the alcohol ban applies from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Steininger and Böhringer Grund, on the lake promenade and in Bucentaurpark, initially until the end of 2021.

Mayor Janik speaks of "untenable conditions"

Originally, Mayor Patrick Janik proposed a complete alcohol ban. According to "Mercury" he spoke of "untenable conditions". However, that went too far for the city council's vacation committee. They agreed to ban alcohol at night.

Street workers should also have more contact with young people, and the security service should monitor them more closely. The regulation also changes the legal situation for the city: violations can be punished directly. The district office had to be involved beforehand.
