Actor and producer Alec Baldwin (64) is facing another lawsuit in the wake of the fatal accident that occurred on the set of the western Rust in October 2021. According to court documents, which should be available to the US site “TMZ”.the parents of the mortally wounded camerawoman Halyna Hutchins (1979-2021) and her sister are now taking legal action against the star.

Baldwin and the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, are among the accused in the documents. The accusation is that both Baldwin and various other employees on the film acted in a highly negligent manner and safety protocols were ignored. The accusation, directed specifically at Baldwin, is that as a longtime professional in the film business, he should have had the weapon checked again or should have checked it himself.

That Baldwin will have to answer in court after the fatal shooting of Hutchins has already been established elsewhere. He was formally charged on January 31 of this year – in two cases.

Up to five years imprisonment

The first charge is negligent homicide, which carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison, according to US media reports. The second charge is also negligent homicide, but in connection with the use of firearms, which could be punished with up to five years in prison. The same two charges were brought against Master-at-Arms Gutierrez-Reed. Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court for the first time on February 24.

District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies referred in one Statement to “CNN” that any person handling a weapon and pointing it at someone has a duty to ensure that they cannot fire a projectile and kill someone. And further: “An actor doesn’t get a free pass just because he’s an actor. That’s so important.”

The parties involved were able to reach an out-of-court agreement with Hutchins’ widower Matthew Hutchins in October 2022.
