Alfa Romeo today introduced its all-new hybrid compact SUV: Tonale.

A model that inaugurates a range of electrified motors… and a pinch of NFT.

Alfa Romeo formalizes its Tonale

Six years after its first Stelvio SUV, the Italian manufacturer (part of Stellantis) has just unveiled a plug-in hybrid SUV called Tonale. A compact model that is finally showing itself in its final form, three years after the appearance of a concept in Geneva.

Slightly more compact than the Stelvio, this SUV has a length of 4.53 m (150 mm less than the Stelvio) a width of 1.84 m and a height of 1.60 m (70 mm less than its big brother ).

The model is full of modernity on board, with a large 12.3″ screen customizable via three preset modes as a dashboard. Alongside it, a 10.2″ driver-oriented touchscreen with 4G connectivity , without forgetting a 3D mesh upholstery.

Alfa Romeo also plays the vintage touch with a grille inspired by the SZ coupe, not to mention five-hole rims that will delight fans of the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA.

The first electrified Alfa Romeo car!

The new Tonale SUV is also an opportunity for Alfa Romeo to enter the electric car market. No question (yet) of discovering a 100% electric model, but the Alfa Romeo Tonale is turning to hybridization with a 4-cylinder turbo engine with light hybridization 48 volts, which will be associated with a 7-speed TCT dual-clutch gearbox . The 15.5 kWh battery promises an electric range of 60 to 80 km.

A Hybrid VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) engine will be offered in two versions (130 and 160 hp), with an electric motor whose power can increase to 15 kW (for 55 Nm).

The flagship of the range will be a Q4 plug-in hybrid model with all-wheel drive, equipped with a 1.3L Multiair unit at the front and an electric unit on the rear axle for a total power of 275 hp.

Finally, the range will be completed by the new 1.6-liter diesel engine with 130 hp and 320 Nm of torque, combined with the Alfa Romeo TCT 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

With real pieces of NFT in it?

During the presentation, the manufacturer was very proud to announce that its new Tonale model will be the first car to be equipped with an NFT digital certificate.

Alfa Romeo is the first manufacturer to associate a car with an NFT digital certificate. ” This distinctive off-board feature, immediately usable and durable, underlines the innovative nature of Alfa Romeo explains the brand.

Thus, with the customer’s consent, the vehicle data will be recorded on an NFT, generating a certificate that will guarantee that the car has been properly maintained. The interest? In the used car market, such NFT certification could represent an additional source of credibility on which owners or distribution networks can rely. “Buyers will be more reassured in their car purchase “promises the brand.

The opening of orders is scheduled for April. The Alfa Romeo Tonale will be produced in Italy, at the renovated “Giambattista Vico” plant in Pomigliano d’Arco.
