Alina Merkau, 35, is a member of the regular ensemble of presenters for Sat.1 “Breakfast TV”, around three million people watch the TV show every morning. In about two weeks, it will be time to say goodbye, because Alina is saying goodbye to maternity leave. She is currently pregnant with baby number two – the tummy can already be seen clearly. The Berliner is currently in the 30th week of pregnancy, so she still has around 10 weeks ahead of her – if everything goes according to plan. However, TV viewers have to say goodbye to Alina Merkau on June 18, 2021, when the Berliner goes on maternity leave.

Farewell for about a year

The 35-year-old wants to retire for around a year and enjoy motherhood to the fullest. “I assume that I will be on maternity leave by the spring of early 2022,” she explains. She returned to work too early with her daughter. “After the birth of our daughter Rosa, I got back in after four months. This time I would like to take more time to really enjoy this experience for myself or for us.” The family also has special plans for maternity leave and the first few days of four. “This includes that we want to travel another four to eight weeks abroad,” reveals Rael Hoffmann, Alina’s husband.
