US military plane crashes into Mediterranean during training

Five military personnel were on an aerial refueling mission when their plane crashed in the eastern Mediterranean. None of them survive. The European Operations Command emphasizes that there is no evidence of enemy activity and that the incident has nothing to do with the fighting in the Gaza Strip.

A US military aircraft crashed during a training flight over the eastern Mediterranean, according to the American armed forces. The US Armed Forces in Europe (EUCOM) have now announced that all five occupants were killed. It was a routine aerial refueling operation as part of military training. The cause of the accident is being investigated.

The European Command emphasized that the incident had nothing to do with Israel’s fighting in the Gaza Strip or the fighting along the Israeli-Lebanese border. “We can say with certainty that the plane crash was solely related to training and there is no evidence of hostile activity,” the statement said. The European Command said further information would be provided “depending on how the situation develops.”

The incident therefore occurred on Friday evening. “Out of respect for the families affected, we will not be releasing any further information about the personnel involved at this time,” EUCOM’s statement continued.

The USA recently relocated several warships to the Mediterranean

In response to the attack by Hamas terrorists on October 7th, the USA recently relocated several warships to the eastern Mediterranean as a deterrent, including the aircraft carriers “USS Dwight D. Eisenhower” and “USS Gerald R. Ford”. Air force squadrons have also already been sent to the region.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and its strike group were sent to the Persian Gulf as U.S. military bases in Iraq and Syria have seen an increase in attacks by Iran-backed Shiite militia groups in recent weeks. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also sent additional air defense systems to the region.
