Alone with dead mom – girl (2) climbed over the armchair to the tap

For more than 24 hours, two-year-old Valentina was alone with her dead mother (38) in the apartment in Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, until a friend sounded the alarm. With the presence of mind the little one had pushed an armchair by the water pipe so that she could at least have a drink. It is still completely unclear what the mother died of, a violent crime is out of the question. The public prosecutor has ordered an autopsy.

“The niece of the dead is a colleague. She asked me to visit my neighbor because she didn’t get in touch ”, Isabella G. (27) tells the“ Krone ”:“ First I went around 5 p.m., rang the bell and knocked – and then back 8.15 p.m. I heard the little one behind the door and talked to her, but she always said, yes, yes. Then I called the police. “

The Rieder Stadtwache had the apartment in the center of the trade fair city opened by the fire brigade. The emergency services found Silvia O. (38) lying dead in bed. She was wearing a body and leggings. Her little daughter Valentina (the child will be three years old at the end of December) was sitting naked next to the corpse without a diaper. The girl must have got herself something to drink by pushing an armchair over to the kitchen unit.

With her moral courage, neighbor Isabella G. had become more or less the lifesaver of little Valentina, who otherwise would have vegetated helplessly in the apartment in Ried’s old town.

The dead had body stains, but the rigor mortis had already subsided, so the authorities are currently assuming that Silvia O. had been dead for more than 24 hours. Because rigor mortis subsides 24 to 48 hours after death.

Girl brought to the Ried hospital
Little Valentina was brought to the hospital for a check-up, accompanied by her mother’s niece. She will probably be looked after by her relatives in the future. But that has to be decided by the youth welfare office. “She keeps asking about her mother,” says neighbor Isabella G.

And the little ones’ father? Silvia O. had separated from the African who lives in Linz immediately after the birth. It is unclear whether the child’s father will apply for custody. The Rieder Youth Welfare Office has to decide how things will continue. The Ried public prosecutor ordered a forensic autopsy. Head Alois Ebner: “There are no signs of a violent crime, but we play it safe. But that’s just routine, we just want to know what the woman died of. “

Again neighbor Isabella G. about the “Krone”: “I actually knew Silvia from childhood. I last saw her on Tuesday. She was fit and in a good mood. She was so happy because she had an interview that went well. She would have got a job in the hospital kitchen. “
