Already crashed – Weakened vacationers rescued from via ferrata

Two holidaymakers from the Netherlands had to be rescued from the Fallbach via ferrata in Malta on Wednesday. Both were on the via ferrata for several hours.

The 28-year-old and his 26-year-old partner were on the via ferrata on Wednesday mornings. The man fell through his own fault in the lower third of the climb, but was uninjured.

After a short rest, the two decided to continue the tour. The bad weather and the fact that they had already been on the via ferrata for several hours made their strength dwindle. About 50 meters before the exit, the couple could no longer continue and made the emergency call at around 4:52 p.m.

The alerted mountain rescue service Lieser / Maltatal, as well as an alpine policeman climbed up to the two vacationers. Subsequently, with the help of the rescuers, they were able to finish the via ferrata and still descend independently into the valley.
