Big hit for Amazon Prime Video. During a press conference on Monday, the streaming platform announced that it would be the exclusive broadcaster of the two matches between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille during the 2023/2024 Ligue 1 season.

She took the opportunity to reveal the dates of the two meetings, even before the official announcement of the LFP.

See you on September 24 and March 31

Football fans, mark your calendars: the PSG – OM meeting will take place on Sunday September 24, 2023 (6th day), and the return match OM – PSG on Sunday March 31, 2024 (27th day).

These two Ligue 1 “Classics” will be broadcast live and exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, via its Ligue 1 Pass.

This advert is a big blow from the American streaming service, which steals the exclusivity of the two most anticipated games of the season from Canal +, a historic broadcaster.

This season, the broadcast of the French football championship was divided between Amazon Prime Video (8 games out of 10) and Canal+ (2 games only). A format that will be renewed for this 2023/2024 financial year… but probably not beyond.

Canal+ would be ready to abandon Ligue 1.

Indeed, the Professional Football League will present next fall a new call for tenders for the broadcasting of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships from 2024 to 2028, to which Canal+ will probably not respond.

The encrypted channel recently let it be known that it preferred to invest the large sums requested by the LFP (663 million euros per season currently) in other programs, such as the Premier League and the new format of the Champions League.

In this context, Amazon Prime Video is gradually establishing itself as the future boss of French football. In 2023/2024, the streaming platform will be the broadcaster of 7 of the 9 matches of each day of Ligue 1, including the popular Classics. And it intends to win the entire competition in the medium term.

As a reminder, Prime Video is offered at €6.99/month. A sum to which is added the paid option of the Pass Ligue 1, at 12.99 € / month, or 99 € per season. That is a monthly total of €19.98.

At this price, you can watch the above-named Ligue 1 matches, as well as 8 of the 10 Ligue 2 matches per day. This 2023/2024 season, Ligue 2 BKT restarts on the weekend of August 5, while Ligue 1 Uber Eats will start the weekend of August 12.
