The Radeon RX 6000 XT could undergo a minor facelift in the coming months. Three new graphics cards would complete the series. On the menu, a simple frequency adjustment and a slightly faster graphics memory.
Released a little over a year ago, the Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards will be replaced before the end of the year by a colorful RX 7000 series, at least that’s the promise made by AMD a few days ago. . The architecture will evolve towards RDNA3, thought for a “multi-chip” approach, which will give rise to GPUs with several dies. A technique well helped by etching in 5 and 6 nm which will then be used.
In the meantime, AMD should offer a breath of fresh air to its Radeon RX 6000 XT. Radeon RX 6950 XT, Radeon RX 6850 XT (a fairly uncertain version) and Radeon RX 6750 XT would thus be on the way. “xx50” versions that would not upset everything compared to the current “xx00” versions. The GPUs would be identical, but the chip frequency could be revamped slightly. The biggest change would be to look for graphics memory. GDDR6 16 Gb / s chips would be swapped for 18 Gb / s chips – a frequency that would increase from 2 GHz to 2.25 GHz. What breathe a little boost on performance, but which would not really change the order of things compared to the competition.
Initially expected just before the summer, these new references could be offered on the market from April. To be seen however, AMD having often taken the habit of carrying out launches during Computex, a Taiwanese fair whose 2022 edition will be held from May 24 to 27.
