Eden the Doll, Jaslene Whiterose and Joslyn Flawless are three transgender women influencers. They were assaulted in Los Angeles in the United States. The video is chilling.

On August 17, Instagrammers Eden the Doll, Jaslene Whiterose and Joslyn Flawless were stopped by six men in the streets of Los Angeles, in the United States. While they were waiting for their Uber driver, one of the men steals Eden's phone. Some videos have been published on social networks and show men assaulting verbally but also physically young women. Jaslene Whiterose even loses consciousness after being hit on the head by one of her tormentors. On Instagtram, Joslyn Flawless denounces acts of transphobic cruelty. In shock, she says: “He hit me in the face with an iron bar and threatened to kill me if I didn't take my shoes off and give him my bracelets. He told me if I was trans he would kill me. He then forced me to hold his hand as he sought to kill my trans friends. And meanwhile, men and women were screaming that I was a man and asking him to hit me. " The young women were therefore brutalized in front of impassive passers-by.

It was the scariest moment of my life

The attackers of the three young women fled. Now they are trying to identify them and find them with the help of the police who, on social networks, launched a call for witnesses: "I know I am privileged: I am a YouTuber and people know who I am. But this happens every day to women like me who do not have social networks. It has to stop." Eden the Doll explains on Instagram. On social media, this call for help and support has grown to enormous proportions. The videos have gone viral and have, above all, raised awareness on the subject.

Indeed, this aggression lifts the veil on a real scourge and shows that transphobia is, still today, far too common. In the United States, transphobic violence has exploded but France also suffers from an unnamed lack of tolerance. At the end of July, the assault on a transphobic woman in the city of Quimper, France, had shaken social networks. Bruno Gonidou, Brittany co-delegate of SOS homophobia, told the Telegram that this attack was unfortunately not an isolated case. According to him, transgender women: "do not feel free to be themselves, because they anticipate a possible aggression. They try to achieve a form of invisibility to no longer be targets, for reasons of survival, but it is terribly dehumanizing. The more inclusive and respectful people are, the better it will be for everyone. "

In 2020, associations observed a 130% increase in testimonies of LGBT + phobic acts in France. The majority are for transgender characters.
