Sleep has become an important topic for the big names in tech in recent years. Most connected watches thus offer to follow our nights, while some brands have specialized in the field. Now it’s Amazon’s turn to jump on the bandwagon with Halo Rise.

An alarm clock and a lamp

The Amazon Halo Rise is above all an alarm clock that wants to help you get up on the right foot thanks to its progressive light simulating the sunrise. This feature is found on many connected objects, like Philips Hue connected bulbs for example.

Although the Amazon Halo Rise doesn’t appear to have speakers, its Alexa compatibility allows you to connect a speaker to wake up to your favorite music.

With sleep tracking

Besides being an advanced alarm clock, the Amazon Halo Rise is also a product aimed at tracking your sleep. And as we generally do not like to feel an intrusion in the privacy of our rooms, this device works without any camera or microphone.

Its various sensors are able to measure not only your movements and breathing, but also the temperature, humidity and brightness of the room. The algorithms of machine learning then take care of cleaning up the interference (the person who shares your bed, a pet, etc.) and analyzing your sleep.

All monitoring is then done directly from your smartphone. You will find all the information on the different cycles of your sleep.

This is reminiscent of what Google is offering with the 2021 Nest Hub, which uses Soli to track your sleep. Amazon hasn’t detailed its sensors, but they should most certainly come close.

Coming soon?

The Amazon Halo Rise is announced “shortlyfor $139.99 (excluding tax). It is not yet known whether this product will be marketed in France, or at what price.
