Closer to an operating system than a simple application, CoverScreen OS makes it possible to unclamp the external screens of folding clamshell smartphones, dedicated to partly using the phone even when it is folded. The support of the Find N2 Flip thus allows its external panel to be used to its full potential, as expected before its release.
A screen full of promise
Indeed, before its marketing in December 2022, the Oppo Find N2 Flip promised to improve the experience of this external screen, which has become one of the main flaws of folding clamshell smartphones. It is often considered too small and limited in functionality, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and its 1.9-inch panel: a few widgets, access to notifications and the camera, then it stops there.
Unlike the Samsung model, the external screen of the Oppo phone measures 3.26 inches and comes in a vertical format. Users therefore hoped to be able to use this panel as a miniature smartphone with the same capabilities as the internal screen… before realizing that it offered almost the same thing as its competitor, or even fewer features.
Access any application
With its latest update, CoverScreen OS therefore corrects the situation. Once installed, in addition to being able to display any widget, you can also access a new interface in the form of an application drawer. This allows you to open any application in its entirety. In addition, it is also possible to send messages by displaying a small horizontal keyboard or by dictating your message by microphone. A breath of fresh air for owners of Find N2 Flip.
