A future series, but without Harrison Ford

Lucasfilm and Disney are still early days, but they are already meeting writers for this project. At the moment, no potential plot has been revealed and it is not known if this series will be a prequel to Steven Spielberg’s feature films released between 1981 and 2008, or even a sequel to the fifth opus screened on June 28, 2023 in movie theaters.

As a reminder, this would not be the first series dedicated to the Indy universe. The Adventures of Young Indiana Joneswhich focused on the early years of the hero, had two seasons and 32 episodes broadcast between 1992 and 1993.

With cult status in movie history and grossing nearly $2 billion worldwide across four films, the franchise IndianaJones is one of the jewels of Disney and Lucasfilm. This began in 1981 with The Raiders of the Lost Arkfollowed byIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, then Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. In 2008, Harrison Ford took over the lasso in 2008 for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The actor announced thatIndiana Jones 5 will be his last incarnation of the archaeologist. The studios are therefore seeking to bring the franchise to life without Ford, whether in the cinema, in series on Disney+ or in another form. Disney intends to apply the “Marvel method”, already used for the Star Wars franchise and which has enabled it to considerably increase the number of content and subscribers to its streaming platform.
