an Ultra model would be planned, but there is bad news

Samsung’s range of foldable phones could add a high-end model in 2023 with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, according to various reports. However, the latter would not be available to everyone.

Galaxy Z Fold 5

According to a new report from Galaxy Club, which often reveals interesting information well before the release of Samsung devices, the Korean giant is preparing to release three new foldable models: the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 6, the book-shaped Galaxy Z Fold 6, and an all-new high-end Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra.

While the standard Z Fold 6 carries the model number SM-F956, the alleged Ultra variant has reportedly been given the number SM-F958, as per Samsung’s nomenclature which uses the last number “8” to designate its Ultra devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra may not be released in France

However, the potentially worrying news is that so far evidence indicates that only one Z Fold 6 Ultra model is in the works, the SM-F958N, the “N” indicating that it is currently planned as an exclusive release in Samsung’s home market of South Korea.

Unless more international model numbers emerge quickly, the Z Fold 6 Ultra may launch as a Korean-only flagship first. Such a limited release would put a dampener on the enthusiasm for what should be Samsung’s most efficient and most expensive foldable device to date.

What could justify the extra cost of the Z Fold 6 Ultra compared to the standard model? First of all, it will most certainly include an S Pen stylus, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The design should then adopt a more angular format and even more premium materials.

Improvements to the camera, display, and processing could further differentiate the Ultra from the regular Z Fold 6. Some previous rumors indicated that Samsung was working on a more affordable “FE” version of the standard Z Fold, but all indications are now that it will ultimately be a premium model. It is hoped that Samsung will expand the availability of this device to more markets.
