Complete List: The Best Android Phones
Android 13: These features are coming
Not all users want to use all apps automatically in the system language. However, many applications use the stored data when selecting the voice output. The only solution: a complete change in the language setting of the device. That should change with Android 13: Google is planning a new function that will enable apps to be used in another language, regardless of the system language. As XDA Developers reports, the implementation is in progress.
Almost every app on the smartphone sends notifications. As the number of installed applications increases, this quickly leads to notification spam. It is possible to prioritize the notifications, but that does not change the sheer flood. With Android 13, Google is apparently working on a restriction that works similarly to controlling access to the camera and microphone under Android 12. XDA Developers writes that a runtime authorization can be used in the future to control whether and when the app sends notifications.
With “The Android Resource Economy” (TARE), Google is laying the foundation for better management of smartphone resources on Android 13. The plans are currently not fully developed and the implementation is unclear. However, it is clear that the battery level plays a central role. Additional documents from Google in the coming months will likely bring more details to light.
Google will focus on the design of the clock on the lock screen with Android 13 at the latest. Then you can set whether the clock runs permanently in a single line or only when notifications appear on the lock screen. It is not unlikely that this small change by Google will happen with the release of Android 12L – and thus faster than expected.
It is possible for users of Apple devices to move media between the Homepod and the iPhone – this function has so far been missing on Android. Android Police reports that Google is considering introducing a similar feature for Android 13. The development is apparently still in its infancy and it is not clear whether this function will be integrated into Android 13 in the end. The use of NFC or Ultrawideband is likely to be used for sending.
QR codes are part of everyday life – there is no faster way to process contact data and vaccination or recovery records. A separate app used to be needed to scan QR codes. Many smartphone cameras can now read the codes and then forward them to the relevant website. This simple variant is not known to all users and bogus applications from the Play Store easily access data. With Android 13, Google is making scanning QR codes easier: Android Police have screenshots that show a tile in the drop-down menu and on the lock screen. Presumably, a tip on the elements forwards the camera app – this speeds up the process and protects against dubious applications.
When will Android 13 be released?
A specific date for the release of Android 13 has not yet been set. If Google adheres to the expiry of the previous versions, a first version for developers can be expected in January or February 2022. A first public beta is likely in May 2022. The release would then traditionally take place in autumn 2022.
What is the name of Android 13?
Actually, with Android 10, Google stopped the plan to name every version of Android with a candy. The tradition lives on internally with the developers of Android and they incorporate the name into the source code. Android 13 is therefore called Tiramisu. The dessert comes from Veneto (Italy) and consists of alternating layers of ladyfingers and a cream made from mascarpone, egg yolk, egg white and sugar.
