The Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 should actually no longer receive Android updates. But with a footnote, the manufacturer is fueling fans’ hopes for Android 14.

A footnote in the press release “One UI 6 Update: 7 Tips for Making the Most of AI Camera on Your Galaxy” recently sent Samsung fans worldwide into a frenzy. In the press release, Samsung presents new camera features that will be available on various Galaxy phones with OneUI 6. One of them is the Galaxy Enhance X app – a tool that is designed to help you get more out of your images when editing thanks to artificial intelligence.
The accompanying footnote states that Galaxy Enhance X will be available on the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 with OneUI 6, among others. This is surprising. Because the OneUI 6 update is based on Android 14. According to the South Korean manufacturer’s policy, the S20 and Note 20 should no longer receive this update. Because they were released in 2020 with Android 10 and have since received three Android updates (11, 12 and Android 13). Samsung has only promised four updates since the S21.

Wording on the Galaxy Enhance X app leaves room for interpretation

Samsung could have worded the footnote misleadingly and meant that the app is available on Galaxy S devices from the S20 onwards as well as selected A and M models with OneUI 6. The fan blog asked the South Korean manufacturer to clarify the matter.
Update November 6th: Samsung confirms bug
In fact, SamMobile’s guess was correct. Samsung has now confirmed to 9to5Google that incorrect information was provided in the press release. Accordingly, the S20 series, the Note 20 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as well as the Z Flip 5 and the Z Flip LTE were accidentally listed. However, all models mentioned will not receive an update to Android 14. The footnote has since been corrected.
