Google took advantage of CES 2024 to announce the arrival of new features within Android Auto. Among them, calculating the range in real time on your journeys is undoubtedly the most interesting, since it will allow you to estimate the state of your battery on arrival and therefore plan stops at a charging station if need.
Among all the new features that we are discovering in the automotive sector at CES 2024, Google and its Android Auto had to be part of the party. The Mountain View firm finally waited until today to unveil some new features that will join its car operating system in the coming months. All have the same motto: simplify journey planning for the motorist.
To begin with, Google is unveiling a feature that allows you to monitor your car’s battery consumption in real time. Concretely, Google Maps will be able to determine what percentage of battery you will have left when you arrive at your destination. If your battery will not be able to last the road, then the GPS will offer you various charging stations on the road to refuel.

Please note, however, that this feature will not be available to everyone right away. Indeed, only the Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning were cited by Google in its press release, which specifies that other models will be added to the list later. The same goes for another new feature, reserved for vehicles with Android Auto included natively in their system. Their owners will soon be able to send a calculated journey on their smartphone directly to the infotainment system, without having to re-enter coordinates.

In addition, Google is bringing its Chrome browser to a few Polestar and Volvo models, again specifying that the list is likely to grow in the future. Users will be able to access all their data, including their accounts and favorites from their car. Finally, other applications are added to the armada already available in the OS: the streaming services Crunchyroll and PBS KIDS, as well as the Weather application.
