A very practical new feature is coming to Android Auto. Thanks to it, you will no longer have to search your memory to find out where you could have parked the car. Ideal for the distracted, and others.
Here is a short story that has probably happened to many of you. You leave your car on a random street before getting out to go about your business. Restaurant, shopping, cinema, simple walk, whatever. A few hours later the time comes to return and there, can’t remember where you parked. It’s probably not far from where you are, but it takes you a while to find the right street. Annoying.
5 years ago already, Google Maps came to the aid of the distracted by adding the possibility of recording your parking space directly in the application. A more practical method than taking a photo of the street sign for example. Shortly after, Maps helped you find a place to park. Asking the app to remember where you left the car is simple, but you still have to think about it. After this Android Auto update, you will literally have a reminder in front of you. Impossible to forget.
Android Auto adds a function to remember your parking space in seconds
More precisely, it is the version of Maps for Android Auto who benefits from the new. The navigation system is in fact the one to which many spontaneously turn to find their way in the car. Now, once you reach your destination, a button to save location where you are parked appears, as seen in the screenshot below. Activate it saves your account information and will even allow you to receive a reminder the next day if the car has not moved.
As it stands, the functionality assumes that you park right where you arrive at the end of the journey, which is not necessarily possible. In theory, Maps takes into account when you press the button and adds any additional distance traveled to find a place. However, this will need to be confirmed with the first user feedback.
