Android users will soon be able to find all their extensions on smartphones

The latest build of Edge Canary on Android finally allows users to add extensions to their browser. Just like on PC, it will be possible to add add-ons to perfect your experience, or even perhaps to synchronize them with the desktop version. We explain how to activate the option.

Being able to find your favorite browser on your smartphone has many advantages: access your history from another device, find the experience you have on PC, etc. However, the smartphone version of our browsers is missing a crucial asset: extensions. As long as you are used to browsing a web without advertisements, to cite just one example, the difference can be chilling once you switch to mobile.

Microsoft therefore decided to tackle the problem. In the latest build of Edge Canary, a new flag has indeed appeared. Once activated, this gives access to, you guessed it, extensions. We owe this discovery to Leopeva64, who regularly reveals the next new features of Microsoft products on her X account (Twitter).

How to find all your Edge extensions on Android

To take advantage of this new feature, you will need to have the latest version of Edge Canary. If you only have the standard version of the browser, you will not have access to the flag necessary to activate the option. So be sure to download the correct application on your smartphone beforehand. Once done, here is the procedure to follow:

  1. Open Edge Canary on your Android smartphone
  2. Type edge://flags in the search bar
  3. Then look for the flag #edge-extensions-android then activate it
  4. Close then reopen Edge Canary
  5. Click on the three-dot menu at the bottom right of the screen
  6. The button Extensions is now available

At this time, we do not know when this feature will be available to the general public. Likewise, it still remains to verify that the extensions synchronize between devices, which will still prevent users from going through a slow and tedious installation again.
