Angelbird AV PRO SD MK2 V60: the fastest 1TB SD card on the market thanks to the UHS-II bus


The manufacturer Angelbird has just announced a 1 TB SD card, equipped with the UHS-II bus and V60 standard. A first ! Called AV PRO SD MK2 V60 1 TB, it completes the existing range with a fifth capacity.

Accustomed to testing SD and microSD cards, a small detail had nevertheless escaped us: there is no 1 TB card with the UHS-II bus or the V60 standard or higher. But that was before. Angelbird has just unveiled the AV PRO SD MK2 V60 1TB SD card, which promises high speeds.

A first at this level of performance

The UHS-II bus allows greater bandwidth, in particular thanks to the addition of additional connectors. The V30, V60 or V90 standards designate the card’s ability to maintain a speed of 30, 60 or 90 MB/s in writing to guarantee the correct recording of a video stream.

If very fast SD cards are available from SanDisk, Kingston, PNY or even Lexar, their maximum capacity is often limited to 256 or 512 GB. With the arrival of the 1 TB version, the series of AV PRO SD cards MK2 V60 now has five versions, starting at 64 GB.

A promise of speed kept in real conditions

According to Angelbird, this card is capable of maintaining a write speed of 140 MB/s. Enough to claim the V90 standard, which is largely outdated, as noted by PetaPixel. Perhaps the manufacturer wanted to keep this video standard for its fastest range of SD cards, the AV PRO SD MK2 V90. Moreover, this latest product line is also expanding with the arrival of a model with a capacity of 512 GB.

Concerning the rest of the characteristics of the SD AV PRO SD MK2 V60 cards, the reading speed is announced at 260 MB/s and that in writing at 160 MB/s for maximum theoretical speeds. The manufacturer also specifies that its cards are designed to operate in harsh environments, in particular with extreme temperatures of -25 to 85°C. Values ​​valid, usually, for the storage of the card and not its use.

Price & availability

The AV PRO SD MK2 V60 1TB card is available for pre-order on the Angelbird website, priced at €359. Deliveries are not expected before the end of August.

For information, the card with the smallest capacity, the AV PRO SD MK2 V60 64 GB, is sold for €47.99. As for the V90 64 GB version, benefiting from a theoretical speed of 300 MB/s, it costs €107.99. Finally, the new AV PRO SD MK2 V90 512 GB is sold for €719.99.
