Animal Crossing: Your worst nightmare on the cutest game in the world

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is arguably one of the most adorable and sweet games of this decade, the concept being as simplistic as it is enjoyable for fans of the genre. Yet even when everything could be simple and beautiful, there are always a few “little” things that remind you of the harsh reality. These things are, of course, the insects that are naturally present on your island in Animal Crossing.

Yes, but here it is, it took a player to snoop a little too much to discover THE most appalling glitch in the history of video games. The one who will have managed to raise Animal Crossing to the rank of “horror game” for some…

Animal Crossing: the Jurassic Park of insects

Well… Whether you’re a seasoned Animal Crossing: New Horizons player or not, you’ve probably encountered some insects on the island where you’ve made your home. Among them is naturally the Spider which appears from time to time suspended in the trees after these have been shaken by the player. Well, it’s rather small and quite anecdotal, so don’t worry about it.

But in New Horizons, another very specific species of spider exists, much rarer than the Argiope bruennichi as it’s also called. We are of course talking about the Tarantula, also called Brachypelma smithi. Impossible to confuse with its yellowish counterpart, the Tarantula is rather imposing, all hairy and brown and black in color. It is also quite difficult to find since it appears from time to time on the ground of the island during the long winter nights.

For the anecdote if you have never met one, if the Tarantula bites you, you will die instantly and be teleported directly to the entrance of your house. In Animal Crossing eh, not in real life!

The Tarantula

So far so good, or almost. Only here, this Friday, April 1, 2022 a player by the name of Damian had fun modifying the data of his game in order to change the appearance of this already very frightening tarantula. It’s in a short video published on Twitter that we discover his poor little character chased by a huge hairy spider… The nightmare of all arachnophobes, and not only elsewhere!

No idea how this player achieved his ends, however this is once again a funny idea from an Animal Crossing player: a habit to force! Well, next time you’ll have to think about enlarging the butterflies or the caterpillars rather, please…
