One of Hollywood's best-known bad guys is dead: As an official obituary on the web shows, actor Anthony James died of cancer last Tuesday at the age of 77. James played in the Oscar-winning films "In the Heat of the Night" (1967) and "Mercilessly" (1992).
The American and son of Greek immigrants was mainly cast as a movie scoundrel and also appeared in numerous well-known TV series such as "The A-Team", "Bonanza", "Knight Rider", "Spaceship Enterprise" or "A terribly nice" Family "with. In 1991, however, he also showed his comedic talent on the cinema screen when he appeared in the cult comedy "Die nackte Kanone 2½" alongside Leslie Nielsen (1926-2010).
As early as the early 1990s, James completely withdrew from the film industry and most recently lived near Boston as a thoroughly successful artist who held vernissages nationwide. In 2014 he published his autobiography under the title "Acting My Face: A Memoir".
