Any help came too late – ski tourer (61) died on Sonntagshorn

A 61-year-old ski tourer had a fatal accident on Sunday morning on his way to the Sonntagshorn, a border summit between Salzburg and Bavaria in the Chiemgau Alps. The Austrian citizen suddenly slumped and remained motionless at an altitude of 1685 meters, in the ridge area between the Perchthöhe and the Sonntagshorn, the police said.

A German touring couple who had overtaken the alpinist shortly before had notified the rescue workers and provided first aid until the emergency helicopter arrived. Despite resuscitation measures initiated immediately, the emergency doctor was only able to determine the death of the 61-year-old.
