Apple drastically increases prices for Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and Apple One

+100% increase in one year for Apple TV+

The Apple TV+ streaming service therefore goes from €6.99/month to €9.99/month. An increase of 3 euros just one year after a first increase in the price, which then went from €4.99 to €6.99. You read correctly: in 12 months, the price of Apple TV+ has simply doubled.

If we understand Apple’s desire to keep pace with the increase in the price of rival platforms, this new price appears prohibitive while the catalog of its platform has not gained in depth. As a reminder, Apple TV+ offers barely 200 programs, films, series and documentaries combined. If the platform until now seemed a good alternative thanks to the quality of its productions, it has now become significantly less interesting.

In a press release, Apple weakly justifies these new prices, and continues to use the argument of the quality of its productions:

“Since its launch four years ago, Apple TV+ has made streaming service history by achieving major milestones in a short period of time, thanks to its vast selection of award-winning series, films, documentaries and entertainment for children and the whole family. We strive to provide the best possible experience for our customers by constantly adding innovative, high-quality entertainment, content and features to our services.”.

A first increase for Apple Arcade

For its part, its Apple Arcade video game service is increasing for the very first time, and going from €4.99/month to €6.99/month.

Please note, however, that the prices of Apple Music (€10.99/month), iTunes Match (€24.99/year) and Fitness+ (€9.99/month) are not increasing. At least for now.

Obviously, these new prices for Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade are passed on to Apple One pack subscriptions. Thus, the Individual plan goes from €16.95/month to €19.95/month, the Family offer takes 3 euros (from €22.95 to €25.95 per month), just like the Premium offer ( from €31.95 to €34.95 per month).

These new prices are already in effect in France, Belgium and Switzerland, and existing subscribers will see the increase in these prices during their next subscription renewal.

As a reminder, Apple TV+ programs are included in the basic Canal+ pack, at no additional cost. The encrypted channel has not yet communicated on a potential impact of this increase on its subscriptions.
