Apple: iPadOS 16.1 could be released on October 24

As you surely know, everything does not seem to have gone as planned at Apple in 2023. Following certain problems encountered, the Californian firm had to review the release schedule for its OS, in particular those intended for Macs and iPads. Version number 16 of iPadOS was therefore not deployed at the same time as iOS 16 as usual – in September, therefore – and is expected on the shelves of the apple.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, always knowledgeable when it comes to Apple business, the wait shouldn’t be long. In a September press release, Tim Cook’s company announced that it would have to wait until October for the release of iPadOS 16.1, without the firm specifying an exact date. Gurman seems to know a bit more and gives in a tweet the date of October 24, if however no new bugs or problems appear by then. The main concern caused by Stage Manager, the new flagship feature of this version, would therefore have been eliminated.

At the same time, the announcement of iPadOS 16.1 could correspond to that of the new iPad models, which we have been talking about for a few months. It would be a new version of the entry-level iPad, aka the iPad 10, as well as an unreleased iPad Pro which could potentially integrate the Apple M2 chip making it the most powerful tablet of the market. Various announcements that Gurman said would come days before Apple’s final fiscal quarter report, due October 27.
