Apple: Oled iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Air and MacBook Air M3 launched in early 2024

True to form, Mark Gurman shared new information regarding Apple’s plans. The journalist of Bloomberg discusses the new features and launch periods for the next iPad Pro, iPad Air and MacBook Air, which should be focused on the start of 2024.

Here are the first Apple products of 2024

To start, the report discusses the launch of the next generation iPad Pro and iPad Air “towards the end of March 2024”. According to him, this would coincide with the deployment of the iPadOS 17.4 update.

Concerning the next iPad Pro, Apple would take a big step forward in terms of the screen by switching to an OLED panel. While Mini-Led was the prerogative of the M1 and M2 models with 12.9-inch screens, this new technology would also arrive on the 11-inch iPad Pro.

In addition to this, the 2024 iPad Pros would benefit from even more power thanks to the M3 chip. The accessory part would also evolve: a Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad and an Apple Pencil 3, potentially with interchangeable leads.

Announced at the same time as the iPad Pro M3, the iPad Air would benefit from an increase in size thanks to the introduction of a model with a larger screen. We would thus be entitled to a new iPad Air in the traditional format, i.e. 10.9 inches, and to an additional version with a 12.9 inch panel.

Mark Gurman explains that this additional screen size “part of a strategy to offer more options at different prices”. Indeed, the 12.9-inch iPad Air would provide access to a larger diagonal without having to pay the price of an iPad Pro, the only model with this screen size.

The journalist of Bloomberg in this respect establishes a parallel with Apple’s recent strategy for MacBooks. Indeed, the launch of the 15-inch MacBook in 2023 gave consumers access to a large-screen laptop without having to opt for the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Finally, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with M3 chip would be launched at the same time as macOS Sonoma 14.3, i.e. between the end of January and February 2024. Note, Mark Gurman estimates that they “may not be delivered before March”. Thus, Apple’s new ultraportable computers would arrive at the same time as the next iPad Pro and iPad Air.
