Apple will shake up your habits on the iPhone with this tiny change

Apple is currently playing sorcerer’s apprentice with iOS 17 beta 5. Some journalists have noticed that Cupertino is looking to change the location of a button that’s small in size, but huge in utility.

Apple presented iOS 17, the new version of its mobile operating system, at the WWDC 2023 conference. The new features offered will be numerous, and we will thus note the arrival of functionalities as practical as StandBy, or the modernization of classic applications from the Apple ecosystem, such as Messages or FaceTime. This will not be all, however, because itertain changes, seemingly small, risk upsetting habits users.

Thus, a journalist from Gizmodo, who is testing iOS 17 beta 5, noticed that the End call button in the updated interface is no longer placed at the bottom in the center of the screen. It has been shifted to the right, and is next to the button used to open the keyboard. This is a change which, no doubt, will make many unhappy if Apple officials decide to keep this provision.

With iOS 17, Apple wants to change the way you end calls, and you probably won’t like it

Why fix what isn’t broken? iPhone users have for years taken thehabit of hanging up with this central red button. The thumb naturally falls on it at the end of the call, and it is almost impossible to mishandle it, since all the horizontal space is reserved for it. Of course, everyone will agree that this change is minimal and thatiOS 17 will bring probably more interesting new features.

And yet, moving this button will require a significant effort to adapt to iPhone users. Digital memory, these gestures that our fingers perform almost without our knowledge, is difficult to modify. Many handling errors (and therefore complaints) are to be expected for Apple. The firm has until September 13date on which the iPhone 15 will be presented, to validate or not this change.
