An iris scanner on Apple’s VR headset
But, precisely, The Information provides some interesting insights into this. We learn in particular that the AR / VR helmet from Apple should embed an iris scanner. Some may recall that such a biometric solution was once used on Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones. However, we imagine that the technology has had to be refined over the past few years and that it should be more precise thanks to the dedicated sensors placed directly in front of the users’ eyes.
The iris scanner will thus act as a sort of Face ID, but instead of scanning your entire face, it will focus on the colored area around your pupils. It is through this feature that you should be able to authenticate to access your user profile on Apple’s VR headset or to make online payments.

Apple and the question of legs
In addition, Apple’s headphones could also scan the position of the legs of the person wearing the device. Two of the 14 cameras that the device should carry would be dedicated to this task. In this way, the avatar in virtual reality will be able to stand on its own two feet.
For his part, on the sidelines of the Meta Quest Pro presentation, Mark Zuckerberg promised that the avatars of his metaverse would have legs in 2023, while specifying that it was a really complex element to manage in virtual reality.
