Are you a youtuber? Google offers you a new way to delete your warnings

Youtube is updating its rules violation policy by offering pinned creators a way out to remove any warnings from their record. But not without conditions.

While the majority of content creators don’t break YouTube’s rules, the platform is determined to better help those who have unwittingly crossed the line. The Google subsidiary therefore announced on August 29 that it had introduced new means to guard against the warnings received, or to make them expire after 90 days, if for example the youtuber follows specific training. Let’s see how it works.

YouTube wants to give you a second chance…

Until now, if you committed a first offense on YouTube, you generally only received a warning, and if a second offense was found, it was a warning. The warning was unique and remained associated with the channel’s file, without the possibility of removing it. The warning was only associated with the channel for 90 days, with certain actions (uploading a video, live streaming, etc.) blocked for a week. But things have partly changed!

From now on, a warning will no longer be final! ” If you complete optional policy training, your caveat will expire after 90 days. If you break another rule after completing the training, you will receive another warning. Completing the course will remove the warning, provided you do not violate the same policy for 90 days.

You have therefore understood, on the scale of sanctions, it will be more difficult to collect a warning if you stand square after the warning and you follow the famous training of YouTube until the end. But what does it consist of?

… by following a training course

YouTube has created several formations, and each corresponds to a particular violation. For example, if the creator posted a video that talks about sexual health but violates the platform’s guidelines, it will still be removed. However, it will now be possible to escape the lifetime warning by choosing to take the suggested course. In the present case, ” creators who choose to take our course will explore a series of questions about our sexual content policies and learn how to better adhere to our policies », Explains Google.

In summary, and once the course is over, here is what happens for the youtuber:

• The creator who does not commit the same violation for 90 days will have their channel warning lifted.
• The creator who violates the same policy before reaching these 3 months sees his video deleted and also receives a warning on his channel (with blocking of certain actions).
• The creator who violates the same policy, but after the 90-day mark, has their video deleted and given a new warning. He will therefore have to undergo training again if he wishes to remove the warning.

To reassure creators in good faith a little more (because the same severity, that is to say the definitive ban, will be applied to those who publish content that is far too “serious”), YouTube is therefore betting on support and pedagogy. The future will tell us if this strategy is effective. But not sure that this is to prevent some youtubers from doing anything for views…
