Arkema: significant drop in profits in 2023

(AOF) – Arkema revealed degraded 2023 results in a context of weak demand. The chemical group’s current net profit fell 44% to 653 million euros. Ebitda fell 28.9% to 1.501 billion euros. The Ebitda margin fell to 15.8% compared to 18.3% in 2022. Turnover at 9.5 billion euros was down 16.1% at constant exchange rates and scope. It was penalized by falling prices and volumes.

The chemical group is proposing a dividend of 3.50 euros per share (3.40 euros in 2022), in line with the progressive growth policy and corresponding to a distribution rate of 40%.

This year, Arkema expects Ebitda to increase between 1.5 billion and 1.7 billion euros. “The start of the year should be a continuation of the weak demand in the fourth quarter of 2023,” warns the group. Ebitda growth should be focused mainly on the second part of the year with the ramp-up of the main growth projects from the second quarter and a gradual improvement in market conditions.
