“Army of the Dead” with Matthias Schweighöfer made it into the top 10 most watched Netflix films just one week after its release.

Even after all the “Walking Dead” episodes and various zombie films, the undead have apparently still not lost their morbid appeal. This is shown once again by the film “Army of the Dead” by “Justice League” director Zack Snyder (55). The film, in which Matthias Schweighöfer (40) plays a key role alongside Dave Bautista (52), was streamed by 72 million households after just one week, as Netflix proudly announced on Twitter.

The prognosis is accordingly euphoric – “Army of the Dead” will be one of the most successful originals of the streaming platform in the first four weeks. The strip has already made it into the top 10, reports the industry website “Deadline”. With 72 million views, he currently ranks “The Midnight Sky” in a shared ninth place. But it seems more than realistic that the horror film will climb even further in the coming days.

The top 10

At the top of the list is the action bombast “Extraction” with Chris Hermsworth (99 million), followed by “Bird Box” with Sandra Bullock (89 million). Third place is currently still held by the action film “Spenser Confidential” with Mark Wahlberg (85 million). The other films: “6 Underground” (83 million), “Murder Mystery” (83 million), “The Old Guard” (78 million), “Enola Holmes” (76 million) and “Project Power” (75 million).

The fact that Netflix has confidence in the “Army of the Dead” universe became clear even before the considerable audience figures were published. At the end of last year, as part of Netflix’s first “Content Road Show”, it was announced that Schweighöfer would be in front of the camera with his girlfriend Ruby O. Fee (24) for a prequel to Snyder’s film. The actor not only takes on the leading role, but also acts as a director and co-producer.
