Almost a week after the attack on the power supply to the Tesla factory in Grünheide, Brandenburg, the factory has been reconnected to the grid.
After the repair work of the past few days, “extensive high-voltage measurements lasting several hours took place on Monday,” as the network operator Edis announced in the evening.
The work was then given the green light. The power supply has since been restored.
Last Tuesday, a high-voltage pylon was set on fire, causing Tesla’s power supply to fail. A left-wing extremist group called the Vulkangruppe claimed responsibility for the attack. The Federal Prosecutor General is investigating, among other things, the initial suspicion of membership in a terrorist organization.
The Tesla factory had to stop producing electric cars and temporarily sent around 12,000 employees home. In addition to the US group, not only were numerous other companies in the region affected, but also temporarily tens of thousands of households in six cities and towns.
The repair work to restore the power supply was progressing faster than originally expected. Brandenburg’s Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach (SPD) said on Monday on RBB Inforadio that it looks like “it won’t take until the end of the week, but that the power supply can be restored sooner.”
