The Redmond firm must have forgotten to publish its latest press release, because its artificial intelligence tool is now available in the form of a new smartphone application.

Copilot here, Copilot there… Microsoft’s new assistant does exist, and the company wants to make it known. While it is, of course, integrated into Windows, it is also available on mobile devices via the web, but also through various applications.

But that was clearly not enough, because Copilot has now been entitled to its own dedicated application for a few days. And the worst part of it all is that we didn’t even know about it.

A new arrival in an already large family

Until recently, if you were looking for “ Copilot » on the Android Play Store, you had the choice between several options to access the tool powered by ChatGPT. If the Edge browser and Microsoft 365 integrate it in addition to their basic functionalities, Bing Chat seems to be the application that allows you to use it in the most complete and direct way possible.

However, thanks to a certain @techosarusrex on X.com (formerly Twiter), we now know that a new Copilot app is also listed and available for download on Android. The experience is similar to what you can find elsewhere: you can chat with the AI and have long and complex conversations, you can generate images with DALL-E 3, or even create documents such as letters or summaries. It is even possible to deactivate or activate GTP-4, and light and dark themes are already included.

One application too many or the start of a new adventure?

Copilot on Android honestly feels like a finished product, which makes Microsoft’s lack of communication quite surprising. Especially since, if the tool was only discovered today, it seems to have been present on the Play Store for almost a week.

Was there any confusion on the part of the American firm? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out. However, the arrival of a separate app for Copilot is a testament to the fact that the tool is destined to invade Microsoft’s entire ecosystem, and perhaps even a little more.

Will it ultimately be a direct competitor to the Google Assistant, Alexa, Bixby or later Siri? After all, GPT Voice is already there, and it wouldn’t take much for the tool to compete with all the other people: access to the device’s functions and files.
