Assassin’s Creed Mirage: skill trees, return of dyes and concept art in a second developer diary dedicated to Basim

Since it was dated at the end of May around the Playstation Showcase, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has finally started its promotion, allowing us to discover more about it. Narrative trailer, video of gameplay and various details were thus delivered to us on the occasion of theUbisoft Forward and this week we got a glimpse of theHistory of Baghdadname given to everything that will surround the Codex and the databaseAnimus. The publisher also posted another equally interesting video last night, dedicated to the protagonist of this episode, basim.

It follows the first developer diary which focused on going back to the roots of this adventure in Baghdad, which for example revealed the addition of a filter paying homage to Assassin’s Creed first of the name. This time, the speakers of the video are the narrative director Sarah Beaulieu, the creative director Stéphane Boudon, the artistic director Jean-Luc Sala and the senior game designer Marco Maresca already present the last time, as well as the character concept artist junior Anika Mercier and the game designer Alexandre Rosset.

This story-driven adventure set in 861 CE can be played without having experienced the events ofAssassin’s Creed Valhallaa game that introduced basimsince taking place before the latter, nor any other episode for that matter, even ifthere will be secrets, easter eggs and other elements of lore for long time fans. Our protagonist will start as a street thief in Anbar alongside nehalhe who is haunted by visions and nightmares, and will eventually join Those we don’t see in Alamut, a fortress still under construction at the time. This is where he will train to become a Assassin before being sent on a mission to Baghdad to track down theOrder of the Ancients.

Several concept art show us the research work of its appearancesince the team wanted to recall the Levantine look ofAltair. He will therefore first wear a white apprentice costume with touches of blue, while the red fabric that he then kept in Valhalla will be explained as a mark of resistance carried by several secondary characters.

The conflicts of the game will be multiple and on different scales more or less personal for basimwho will question the meaning of freedom and its past. His evolution to the rank of Mentor will result on our side in the presence of a skill tree of which we have an outline, much less vast than that ofEivorconsisting of at least three categories: phantom, trickster And predator. In effect, there will be no systemXP in Miragejust points that we will get as we go up the ranks of the Brotherhood.

This evolution will also unlock various mission opportunities, outfits and tools. We can also use dyes to change the color of our costume, like the good old times ! The inventory is also visible for a fraction of a second during this passage, resuming the hackneyed model “à la Destiny” already in place in the last games.

On the combat side, the focus has been on the sword and dagger duo he wields. You will also notice that one of concept art representing a blade names the game “Assassin’s Creed Rift”which you may have already read last year when the rumors about the game surfaced.
