Although available as a ” pro release “, the old firmware of the ROG Ally offered a notable increase in performance on the handheld console from Asus. The new version 319 of the software, recently available on the MyASUS utility, would do the exact opposite according to HotHardware and several other specialized media and YouTubers.
On paper, this new version of the firmware is however supposed to improve the gaming experience in 9 W, but after the tests carried out by certain testers, it turns out that the expected effect is not at all at the rendezvous. Instead of improving performance in this context of use, version 319 actually tends to degrade it. Worse still, the performances in 15 W and 25 W are also amputated after the installation of this new firmware, we read.
Firmware 319 also has advantages… but you will pay too much for them
As VideoCardz reports, the firmware 319 of the ROG Ally does allow some bugs to be fixed, and yet, as it stands, one of Asus’ spokespersons advised as far as possible to postpone the installation of this BIOS update. The interested party has also confirmed that the firm was aware of the performance problems observed with this new version. Logically, a patch is therefore under development.

That said, Asus has not given any information about the deployment of a corrected version. And for now, players who have already installed the firmware 319 on their device are mostly encouraged to be patient, or outright use the toolASUS EZ-Flashto manually revert to the old BIOS version. An operation that is not necessarily within everyone’s reach.
Note that AMD is not a model in terms of software monitoring at the moment either. VideoCardz, for example, reports that the group has still not provided driver updates for its APUs “phoenix(design used for the Z1 chips of the ROG Ally).
