At the cinema: Ducobu 5… Why should we see the new film in this saga with 5 million admissions?

“L’Elève Ducobu” is back in the cinema, more cheating than ever! This time, the most famous dunce in France is playing green to have a sabbatical year!

Get ready for a 5th dose of cheating! The king of dunces is back at the cinema for a 5th episode in Ducobu passe au vert, still directed by Elie Semoun. The story tells us about a new school year at Saint Potache school.

This year, Ducobu has a genius idea: take a sabbatical year to save the planet but above all to skip school! But Latouche doesn’t intend to let him do it so easily… Cheater and eco-friendly, it’s no cakewalk!

An involved director

After Ducobu 3 and Ducobu Président, Elie Semoun returns in front of and behind the camera with Ducobu goes green. “With this one, it’s a bit like I was starting to learn what working as a director entails. I realized that we could go further, do more shots, have the possibility of trying things, to make mistakes and start again.”indicates the filmmaker.

Always as excited as Latouche, Elie Semoun manages to give a boost to the license, in particular by taking up delicate subjects to make fun of them, such as artificial intelligence or ecology. It’s on the set of the previous part, Ducobu President! that Elie Semoun realized that children were particularly sensitive and attentive to ecological issues.

“Between 10 and 13 years old, this is a generation very concerned by environmental issues. This current subject concerns them and worries them since it is unfortunately not going to improve and I saw it as an opportunity for a comedy that can also say things.”

A new, even more cheating Ducobu!

As is customary, a new actor was hired to lend his features to the student Ducobu. After Vincent Claude, François Viette, Mathys Gros and Gabin Tomasino, it is the young Belgian actor, Damien Pauwels, who dons the black and yellow polo shirt from Ducobu. If the performer of the title role changes with each film, it is for a very simple reason: the rapid growth of children!

Elie Semoun auditioned around a hundred children during castings, before finding the rare gem: “I was initially afraid that his accent would be too pronounced but he worked on that and it ended up going very well. He’s a young boy who has a good face, with whom we had to fight to get he agrees to let go because, at the beginning, Damien was in control all the time.”

Gérard Jugnot king of the cheat!

To help Ducobu in his quest for the ultimate cheat, Mr. Kitrish is here again! He is played by Gérard Jugnot, who has a lot of fun portraying this colorful character, a specialist in pranks and tricks!

With the help of Kitrish, Ducobu will have to defeat a long-toothed entrepreneur, the villain of the film, played by a facetious Nicolas Marié. Emilie Caen, Frédérique Bel, Loïc Legendre, Caroline Anglade, and François Levantal are also part of the adventure. The latter is still as truculent in the costume of the director of the Saint Potache school.
