Aude A man in police custody after the murder of a young woman in Narbonne

A man was placed in police custody on Thursday as part of the investigation for “aggravated homicide” of a young woman, killed by several stab wounds on June 25 in Narbonne. “A man who was actively sought went to the police station,” Narbonne prosecutor Eric Camous told AFP, without providing further details.

The 26-year-old victim was discovered unresponsive at the foot of his building by police, alerted by neighbors who had tried to provide him with first aid.

The victim had reported domestic violence

During a press conference on Tuesday, Eric Camous had indicated that the young woman, who was about to go out with a friend, had been attacked several times with a knife, just outside her building. Originally from Vaucluse, she arrived in Narbonne at the age of 23 to be closer to her companion, and worked in catering.

According to the prosecution, the young woman went to the Narbonne-Plage medical center on June 20, and to the emergency room the next day. She then reported domestic violence, saying she wanted to file a complaint. On June 25, she still had not filed a complaint, said the prosecutor.

A judicial investigation has been opened for the facts of aggravated voluntary homicide.
