Shitstorm after advertising
Influencer lies to followers and is promptly caught

Influencers have to keep listening to criticism for their work and their advertising methods.

Influencers are repeatedly criticized for sometimes questionable advertising campaigns. An Australian woman had to endure ridicule and malice when she was exposed with a very obvious lie.

Madi Edwards is an Australian influencer with around 900,000 followers on Instagram. It goes without saying that it is also requested for advertising bookings – as is the case now, for example, from the manufacturer of a self-tanner. Edwards wanted to prove the effectiveness of the remedy in a tutorial – but a short time later a huge wave of criticism and malicious glee rolled towards the Australian. What happened?

Shitstorm for influencers – advertising for self-tanners goes wrong

In the video, Edwards tried to illustrate the effectiveness of the product in a particularly clear way. In order to make the product look good, she did not take it too seriously with the truth – and that in front of the camera. Bad luck for them: their followers could quickly see that they were being cheated – and promptly let the influencer know. In the video you can see the moment when it becomes very clear that this promotion was not honest.
