Autopsy ordered – Innsbruck train station: man (91) died in accident

A fatal accident with a public bus is believed to have occurred on Friday morning at Innsbruck main station. As police confirm, a man (91) was fatally injured in an accident. Further investigations are ongoing.

As the police confirmed at the request of the “Krone”, there was a fatal traffic accident shortly after 11 a.m. at Innsbruck main train station. A 91-year-old man was killed. The senior was in the bus stop area and may have been waiting there. When the bus passed him, the man tried to follow it and probably stumbled. He got caught in the last rear wheel of the articulated bus and sustained fatal injuries. An autopsy was ordered. Driver looked after by crisis intervention team The Innsbruck transport company is currently still unclear as to how the terrible accident occurred. “The driver is being looked after by the crisis intervention team. The accident site was closed for a good one and a half hours,” said the “Krone” in response to an inquiry. “Today’s serious accident at Innsbruck main station with an IVB bus has affected us all very much,” explains managing director Martin Baltes in an initial reaction. The specific cause of the accident is currently still part of the investigation being conducted by the police. “We have promised full cooperation and have referred the bus driver involved as well as the passengers directly to crisis intervention,” said Baltes, who also expressed his special condolences to the victim’s relatives in this context.Police are looking for witnessesAs the investigators have now announced, there will be witnesses to the accident wanted, “particularly a man wearing a red and white checkered shirt,” it says.
