Summer is coming to an end – autumn is just around the corner. What kind of weather can we expect?

While some are wishing for the summer back, others are slowly but surely longing for the cozy autumn days. But now that the warm days are slowly coming to an end, the balance of the summer is anything but satisfactory, because despite the hot days, this year’s summer was rather sobering. Will the coming time fulfill the dream of golden October?

Autumn 2023: This is the forecast

The hot summer days also have devastating consequences for the coming season, because the persistently high temperatures are said to have caused the Mediterranean Sea to warm up. This in turn has a major impact on our climate. Experts are currently warning Storms and extreme weather situations, as can already be seen with heavy rain in many areas of Germany. The weather experts of the ZDF magazine comment as follows: “Since water generally has a high heat storage capacity, the danger is far from over. Heavy to extreme storms can also be expected in autumn”. Not only in Germany do rain and thunderstorms cause extreme weather situations, but also abroad, such as on Mallorca, extreme weather conditions are increasing.

Despite the storm: a golden autumn is not entirely unlikely

Despite the risk of severe weather, there are also forecasts for autumn that are more promising, because according to the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), a golden autumn is perhaps not all that unrealistic. According to current statements, both September and October could surprise us with golden days. The so-called Indian summer can give hope for sunny days, which at least temporarily make us forget the gray rainy days. Already at the beginning of September we could look forward to a little summer comeback.
