Avatar 2: only four films still stand up to him

With $2.054 billion at the worldwide box office, “Avatar: The Way of the Water” just surpassed “Avengers: Infinity War” and thus joins the 5 greatest hits of all time.

In theaters since December 14, Avatar: The Way of the Water, the second installment of the franchise initiated by James Cameron in 2009, has just reached a new level in its dizzying rise in the global box office.

This Thursday, the blockbuster has indeed exceeded 2.052 billion Avengers: Infinity War, thus integrating the Top 5 of the greatest successes of all time.

With 2.054 billion dollars on the counter, Avatar 2 should also continue to climb in the rankings. His next target: Star Wars – The Force Awakens and its 2.071 billion, which he should exceed without too many problems.

To hope to integrate the Top 3, he will then have to brave the heights and measure himself against Titanic (2.194 billion dollars), Avengers: Endgame (2.799 billion) and the first Avatar (2.923 billion).

For now, James Cameron can in any case boast of counting three of his films among the five greatest successes of all time.

Avatar: the Way of the Water, which is also the biggest post-COVID global success, is also the No. 1 of the year 2022 in France, where it gathered more than 12 million spectators in theaters.

While three other Avatar feature films are already expected for December 2024, 2026 and 2028, will James Cameron manage to achieve such high scores again?
