This is the end of year event. Netflix released season 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender on February 22. This live action adaptation of the cartoon broadcast between 2005 and 2007 features Aang, a young Air Nomad – and the last representative of his people – who emerges from his slumber after a century to claim his rightful place as the new Avatar .

Young Canadian actor Gordon Cormier was chosen to play Aang, the hero ofAvatar: The Last Airbender. After being locked in a glacier for 100 years, the 12-year-old boy discovers that the Fire Nation has decimated the Air Nation and that he is the last bastion against their destructive madness.
The actor had 12 years at the time of filming, which took place 2 years ago. The youthful Gordon Cormier allowed him to breathe real candour into his character and lightness into the universe.
Kiawentiio is Katara

Kiawentiio, a Canadian actress from the Mohawk tribe, takes on the role of Katara, one of the last to have control over water in her village. She will lend a hand to Aang and develop his abilities throughout the season. The latter had 15 years at the time of filming, where his character is 14 years old.
Ian Ousley as Sokka

Sokka is Katara’s warrior brother and one of Aang’s friends. He doesn’t have waterbending skills but knows how to fight. Actor Ian Ousley had 19 years old at the time of filming, even though his character was only 15 years old.
Dallas Liu is Prince Zuko

Dallas Liu, an expert in martial arts like Ian Ousley, lends his features to Zuko, the Prince who was excommunicated from his nation by his father. To be able to return to his country, he will have to find the trace of the Avatar. The actor had 19 years old at the time of filming. Zuko is 16 years old in the first season of Avatar.
Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula

Azula is Zuko’s little sister and daughter of Lord Ozai. Extremely powerful, she does everything to receive honors from her father. She is particularly jealous of her big brother and does everything to hinder him.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh

General Iroh accompanies Zuko on his quest to find the Avatar. Even though he is part of the Fire Nation, he has genuine respect for Aang and does not wish for the world to be destroyed by his brother, Lord Ozai. His interpreter Paul Sun-Hyung Lee had 49 years at the time of filming. We don’t know how old his character is in the animated series, but experts give him between 50 and 60 years old.
Daniel Dae Kim is Lord Ozai

Lord Ozai is the ruler of the Fire Nation. It is on his impulse that the air tribe is decimated in the first episode of the series. His interpreter, Daniel Dae Kim, had 53 years at the time of filming. His character’s estimated age is between 40 and 50 years old.
The actor who plays Ozai is therefore older than the one who plays Iroh… even though he is supposed to be his little brother!
