The BAFTA Games Awards 2022 took place on April 7, with the aim of rewarding the best games of 2021 and the talents who made them. Throwback to this grand ceremony!
What is the BAFTA Games Awards?
The BAFTA Games Awards are the British Academy Games Awards, which reward the talents of the video game industry each year. In France, we have a very similar ceremony, called the Pégases, the 3rd edition of which took place on March 10 and rewarded Deathloop by Arkane Lyon as the best video game of the year 2021.
The BAFTA Games Awards ceremony therefore crowns the best video games of the previous year, thanks to 16 categories in total.

Returnal, big winner
Although this is not a competition, Returnal is still the big winner of this evening, winning four of eight awards for which the game was nominated. The production of Housemarque studios made us shiver through the adventures of Selene who, lost in a world in perpetual change, tries to find the thread of time.
A well-deserved award, therefore, for a game exclusive to PlayStation which has marked the minds of many players.
Unpacking at the top
The famous moving-in game had a phenomenal success a few months ago, thanks to its cozy gameplay and its soft atmosphere. A success that was therefore rewarded last night, rightly. The creators of the game were present at the ceremony and were very moved by seeing their hard work rewarded.
They tweeted: “What a night at the BAFTA Games Awards! We’re just amazed, and thank you to all the BAFTA judges and the public who voted for us. We’re so, so grateful”.
It Takes Two was also awarded as best multiplayer game of 2021acknowledging the originality of its co-op mode, which propelled Hazelight Studios to the top!
In any case, the ceremony was grand and the developers rewarded, each more deserving than the other. We’re already looking forward to next year, to see what the BAFTA Games Awards say are the best games of 2022!
