BahnCard: Millions of Bahn customers are now entitled to a new goodwill regulation

The Deutsche Bahn is now offering Bahncard owners a modified goodwill regulation. The company announced this on its website. Using a specially created online form, rail customers can convert their Bahncard into a voucher. The voucher is valid for three years.

Specifically, the railways announced on the website: The company is aware that "for many people, traveling is currently not possible or only to a limited extent. As compensation, we offer all affected customers a travel voucher with a BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50." Customers can now use the new goodwill regulation.

Customers who have a Bahncard 100 should contact BahnComfort Service as usual.

Bahncard holders must meet these requirements

However, there are some prerequisites that must be met in order to apply for the three-year rail voucher. According to the Bahn, a currently valid Bahncard is required and, for new customers, a purchase of the Bahncard up to and including March 13, 2020. The voucher value is based on the type of Bahncard and is between 10 and 50 euros, the company said.

The railway also points out that due to the high number of requests for the goodwill arrangement, the processing could take three to four weeks. In recent weeks, customers had criticized the railways for the fact that despite the limited freedom to travel in Germany due to the corona pandemic, there was no goodwill for Bahncard owners.
